"The Living Room” is a nod to the kinship we have as stewards of the world, specifically the non-human one. In this space, I’m growing microgreens around the bodice of a chandelier, table, and two chairs, thus recreating a domestic household area where you’d usually relax, eat, and have conversation. By bringing these objects to life, I’m removing their original purpose, while preserving their symbolism. There is an Ephemeral nature of the exhibition, in that the life expectancy is 10-14 days, because the sprouts cannot be sustained growing on the hard surfaces of wood, leather, and metal. This is an exercise in trust with nature. Trusting that the seeds would grow if I watered them, and we would live in reciprocity for the next 5 exhibition days.
